LGN Louis Gabriel Nouchi and Joeone’s AW22 set saw floor-placed mirror modules casting reflections of strolling silhouettes in the Théâtre National de Chaillot’s Le Grand Foyer.
Key features
Paris' Théâtre National de Chaillot served as the venue for the LGN Louis Gabriel Nouchi and Joeone AW22 double show. Created by Paf Atelier, the set employed a ‘room in a room’ strategy – the rhythm of the foyer’s existing columns and its gold Art Deco floor lamps was replicated by black space frames. The interior of the fashion space was kept minimalistic and simple, with only four mirror islands positioned in alignment with the existing floor's pattern and situated like open books. These fixtures reflected the grandiose Art Deco interior, the models walking over them, and the technical lighting structures, creating a complex play of images through simple design means.
Frame's take
The Théâtre National de Chaillot – built for the Paris Exhibition of 1937 – is a popular venue for fashion shows in the French capital, but usually does not add much to a presentation’s storytelling. However, venues like it – including the Palais de Tokyo – are often used by younger, less established brands like LGN Louis Gabriel Nouchi (established in 2017) . Reading is an integral part of the designer's life, and every collection is dedicated to a book or a writer that is important to him. This idea is reflected in the book-like mirrors, while the ambience evokes escapist memories of nightclubs, according to Nouchi. The set is an excellent example of an imaginary world that can be created with a few simple elements and a great interiors.
