WHEN ARCHITECTURE FOUND FASHION: PRADA + AMO/OMA
By diving into a creative process that considers each fashion show as a microcosm, including larger views on society, culture, art, architecture and fashion, this research explores, in a unique way, the inside of the collaboration process between two of most remarkable creators of our time in architecture and fashion: Rotterdam-based architect office OMA/AMO, led by Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas, and Milan-based fashion house Prada, led by Italian fashion designer Miuccia Prada.
By exploring the design process and the working method behind the fashion, as well as discussing the essence of the shows, touching upon communication design, architecture, cinema, music, and politics along the way, it is argued that the results of collaboration can be seen as an epiphenomenon itself. As a result, these findings are highly relevant inputs to new design developments in architecture and fashion such as the domain of fashion spaces.
